#5 – Gyros With Pieta and Greek Spices
Many people believe that making gyros at home is impossible. The reason for this is the difficulty in cooking gyro meat on vertical spits before shaving them off, which is almost impossible to do in the house. To do this at home, you simply have to bake the gyro meat twice. When baking, make sure that you do so at low temperatures.
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 2 teaspoons dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon dried parsley
- 1 tablespoon ground coriander
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 1/2 tablespoon paprika, hot/sweet
- 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Onions and tomatoes
Method:
- Transfer the herbs and spices to a jar, after mixing them.
- Prepare the chicken, lamb, pork and minced/ground meats.
- Mix a few teaspoons with olive oil, lemon/lime juice, and salt.
- Mix with the type of meat you selected.
- For kebabs/burgers, add to the minced meat, and mix with some salt.
- You can add onions, tomatoes and other vegetables with the mix if you like.
