#6 The Supremes
Originally known as The Primettes, The Supremes made it big and were featured as the premier act of the Motown Records. With a total of twelve Number 1 hit singles included in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, they were hailed as America’s most successful singing group to date. Diana, Mary and Florence were even pitted against The Beatles in terms of popularity!
Over the years, the groups’ line-up changed numerous times as they aimed at focusing on their solo careers. Unfortunately, the group disbanded in 1977 after a successful 18-year career. Some of their hit singles include the novelty favorites ‘Stop in the Name of Love’, ‘Baby Love’ and ‘Where Did Our Love Go’.
