#6 – Nelson Mandela Got His Inspiration From A Poem
Nelson Mandela was incarcerated for 27 years. He grew extremely fond of “Invictus” by William Ernest Henley, a poem he read to his fellow prisoners. “Invictus” resonates with Mandela for the last two lines “I am the master of my fate/I am the captain of my soul”, and it’s a poem about never giving up.
