#2 – Number of Tweets

The number of tweets was raised from 20,000 to 60,000 through the Southwest Festival, held in Austin in 2007. Through this event, the demand for Twitter was increased tremendously and spread all across the globe. The popularity of Twitter has given worldwide users an opportunity to gain the benefits of instant messaging and micro-blogging both at the same time and on the same platform.

To date, a total of over 170 billion tweets have been sent (many of which are spam).
