Invention #2 Hovercraft

The Hovercraft made its appearance on the Dover to Calais run in 1959 and was invented by Sir Christopher Cockerell, but a Knighthood was all he got for this marvellous invention. Apparently he tested his theory by using a hoover and some tin cans.
