Halloween is upon us again, and while hordes of men and women will take to the streets in funny or scantily-clad costumes, some of us remember that this holiday is meant to be scary. Some of us want a challenge. The following list is not of the scariest movies ever made, but of the sickest, most depraved ideas ever put to celluloid. Be warned: This list will contain GRAPHIC content, with the films getting more intense with each number. Here we go…
#1 – Last House on the Left (1972)
Wes Craven’s directorial debut has gone down not only as his ugliest film, but one of the most difficult things you can watch. While time has not been entirely kind to the movie (and the weird attempts at comedy brought on by two bumbling cops are groan-worthy), this tale of two women on a night out who try to score weed from the wrong people still has it’s fair share of wrenching moments. Try not to wince as main baddie Krug rapes and carves his name into a young girls chest. While certainly dated, there is enough power in its near documentary style shooting to get under your skin. You’ll be rooting for the second act–where the girls’ killers are beset upon by their vengeful parents.
