#3 – Langkawi Sky Bridge, Malaysia
Built on top of the Machinchang mountain in Malaysia and located at one end of a cable car ride, the Langkawi Sky Bridge is a 125-metre curved pedestrian cable-stayed bridge that opened in 2005. The bridge is suspended from a single and rather oddly offset single pylon and hangs about 100 metres above the ground.
The entire bridge, in all its elements had to be lifted to the top of the mountain by helicopter and was later assembled to its current position.
Upgrade work to the bridge commenced in 2012 including the installation of a 10m-long glass walkway in the middle span so that visitors can look down the valley from where they stand. Not for the faint-hearted!
