This question often arises after a relationship has been established and partners want to know more about each other, however, this is a very slippery slope for most women.  For women too many sex partners make you a slut, but for men it places them on a pedestal.  This question is really a no win situation for women, and if feasible it is best not to answer this question.  If your partner is persistent try avoiding the question by stating that it doesn’t matter.  If the persistence continues come up with a number that seems reasonable and go with it.
