Country #1 – Czech Republic

With a massive per capita beer consumption of 132 litres (232 pints) a year, the Czech Republic are way out in front in the beer drinking league table. Beer in the Czech Republic has a long and fabled history with its first brewery known to have existed in 993 in Břevnov Monastery. Its domestically brewed beers are mainly pale lagers and pilsners, two of it’s most famous being Pilsner Urquell and Budweiser Budvar.
If you’re interested in visiting the biggest beer festival in the Czech Republic (Czech Beer Festival in Prague), it is held for 17 days every year in May, where visitors can taste more than 70 brands of Czech beer!
