If you were to hazard a guess at naming some of the top 10 beer drinking countries, what might you guess?  The Australians?  The Brits?  Well, the answers may surprise you and the stereotypes that are built up by the media may not actually be based on cold, hard statistics.  The following list of the top 10 beer drinking countries are based in reverse order of beer consumption per capita i.e. the total volume of beer consumed by a particular country divided by its population.  Let the countdown begin…

Country #10 – Finland

Finland borders the Eastern Front in a cold, dark area of Europe.  Perhaps that’s why it’s the most sparsely populated county in the European Union and just maybe, why it has the 10th largest beer consumption per capita in the world.  Interestingly enough, with a nominal per-capita income of over US$49,000, it is one of the world’s wealthiest nations and been ranked as one of the countries with the highest quality of life.  Who said getting drunk was bad for the economy!
