McDonald’s is one of the most successful fast food companies in the world, with branches around the globe. From New York City to Buenos Aires, and Athens to Hong Kong, you can find their establishments serving up many of the same standards you find at home. Like any business however, they recognize the need to keep innovating. And like any innovator, that involves taking risks. Though we’re most familiar with McDonald’s great product successes, here are some little known products that failed.
#1 McLobster
A take-off on the lobster roll, this sandwich was basically lobster meat on a hot dog bun, together with some lettuce and “McLobster sauce.” Every once in awhile, this product reappears in outlets across the country, only to disappear again. One problem with the McLobster is the price, as it costs more than most McDonald’s patrons want to pay. Another problem is that people don’t connect the upscale image of lobster with fast food.
