The festival season is in full swing and, unusually for us Brits, we have a heatwave on our hands – or rather on our heads. If we don’t take the right precautions we could end up getting sunburned and, worse, sunstroke. Not nice! So what can we do to keep our heads cool and, at the same time, still enjoy the glorious weather? Here’s 10 tips guaranteed to help you keep your cool during any heatwave.
Cool Tip #1 – Wear Damp Clothes
At T-In-The-Park the Marshalls were going around and spraying the crowd with water to keep them cool. Unfortunately only the first row could benefit. Wearing damp clothes on a hot day is a much better idea. They may feel a bit yucky at first, but the dampness will soon evaporate leaving you nice and cool. The heat from your body actually helps to keep your body cool as it reacts with the moisture, producing the energy needed to turn the liquid into a gas which evaporates easily. Don’t go overboard, though, and walk around soaked, you’ll get pneumonia!
