#3 – Nutrient Deficiency
Vegans are frequently low in many key nutrients but especially in vitamin B12 and omega 3 fats. Vitamin B12, which is found mostly in animal products, is necessary to preserve the body’s nerve and blood cells. There is strong evidence that suggests that omega-3 fatty acids help lower blood pressure, prevent arthritis, and prevent depression. Fatty fish, like salmon, pastured eggs, and grass-fed beef are good sources of omega-3’s.
