#2 Aspartame

Aspartame is a man-made artificial sweetener (which is up to 200 times sweeter than sugar) made from phenylalanine, aspartic acid and methanol. It is used as a sugar substitute in some foods and drinks such as sugar-free / diet soda, desserts and sugar-free gum. As with most artificial food additives, Aspartame has been deemed safe at current levels by most food and drug administrations and is one of the most thoroughly tested and studied food additives.
However, some studies have hinted that larger doses of Aspartame may cause negative effects to the nervous system in some individuals, including brain seizures and even cancer. Although there is no hard proof that this additive is hazardous to health, we can’t believe that a man-made substance that is up to 200 times sweeter than natural sugar can be good for you. For this reason, we recommend that you check food labels and either stop consuming products that contain Aspartame, or very much limit them in your diet.
