#4 Hydrogenated Vegetable Oils
Hydrogenated vegetable oils are made by cooking normal vegetable oil at high temperature in the presence of hydrogen and a catalyst for the main purpose of making them solid at room temperature. Where an oil is partially hydrogenated, the product is a trans-fat and both fully and partially hydrogenated oils are known to be unhealthy.
Food that often contain hydrogenated oils include margarine, fast food, peanut butter and confectionery such as cakes, doughnuts and waffles. Health risks include chronic inflammation, digestive problems and heart disease, so cut out or seriously limit your consumption of products that contain hydrogenated oils and trans-fats.
