Did you know that what you eat may be making you ill, causing allergies or even slowly killing you? The vast majority of people, especially in western societies eat processed food and drink that has added man-made ingredients, designed to sweeten, add flavour or preserve and these ingredients may be bad for your health. Let’s take a look at six of the most common food additives that you probably want to avoid…
#1 Monosodium Glutamate (MSG)
Monosodium Glutamate, usually shortened to MSG, is a flavour enhancer most often found in foods such as soups, seasonings and some restaurant food. Although it has been officially declared safe by most food & drug administrations, some research has shown that regular consumption of MSG can lead to adverse health affects such as depression, disorientation, eye damage, fatigue, headaches and obesity. People with Asthma are thought to be particularly at risk according to a study carried out by D. D. Stevenson in 2000.
So check out those ingredient labels and either cut or limit products with MSG in your diet.
