#4 – Omega-3

Omega-3 fatty acids are classed as ‘essential’ fatty acids because the body cannot make them and they are essential to human health. Their health benefits include their anti-inflammatory properties, which help to curb stiffness and joint pain, they reduce blood triglyceride levels, which can reduce the risk of heart attacks and they promote nervous, neurlogical and overall immune system health.
Good natural sources of omega-3 fatty acids include oily fish such sardines, mackerel and salmon, walnuts and flax seeds (flax seeds contain the most dense source of omega-3’s). If you struggle to eat these types of foods as part of your regular diet, then fish oil or flax seed oil supplements can be a great alternative.
