#9 – Probiotics

Did you know that the human body is made up of trillions of bacterial cells from at least 500 species? These bacteria (probiotics) are referred to as ‘friendly’ bacteria and are responsible for several important biological functions. Some of these functions include assisting with digestion, keeping other harmful bacteria at bay and stimulating the immune system. These help to prevent symptoms such as bloating, alergies such as eczema and IBS (irritable bowel syndrome).
Probiotics are found naturally in tomatoes, asparagus, onions, garlic, artichoke and bananas and can also be consumed via probiotic yoghurts and drinks.
