#6 – Disable Unwanted Startup Processes
Problem: A lot of software that you instlall automatically runs in the background when you boot up your computer. While this may help them load more quickly when you want to use them, or may actually be necessary as in the case of anti-virus software, more often than not, they’re not necessary and just take up valuable RAM and processing resources.
Solution: Go to the Start Menu within Windows > click on the run command > type in msconfig > click on the startup tab > untick any programmes which aren’t required (be carefull not to untick any anti-virus programme). By doing this, you should observe a noticable improvement in the time it takes for your computer to boot up. Run this check approximately every 6 months.
