Invention #8 MP3

Continuing with the music theme, the MP3 player replaced the Sony Walkman as the joggers favourite in the 1990s. MP3 files are the standard way to transfer music via the Internet and millions of songs are downloaded on a daily basis using this format. It was developed in the 1980s by German PhD Student Karlheinz Brandenburg but ended up as shareware because he didn’t have the funds to distribute the software. Unlucky for him, lucky for us.
