Symptom #9 – Withdrawal

Withdrawal is a classic symptom of depression. A depressed person will almost always avoid social interactions, especially where groups of people that they know are involved. Withdrawal is really just a symptom of low self esteem, a feeling that one isn’t interesting or worthy of being part of a group. The problem with withdrawal is that is serves to make the problem worse, leading a person to brood alone on negative thoughts, further heightening the brain’s stress response.
