If you skip meals, you may think this will burn extra calories and help you lose fat. In fact, it is just the opposite. When you don’t eat for a long period of time, your body enters starvation mode, and decides to start saving energy in the form of fat. If you eat a small amount every few hours, then your body knows it’s getting the food it needs, so it doesn’t store any additional fat.
