#7 – Base Your Diet On Grains

A large percentage of people in the world base their diet around grains. This includes cereals, bread and rice and we’re often encouraged by the government and media to eat grains every day and to base our meals around them. The fact is that grains usually have a high glycemic index and cause a spike in insulin levels.
Grains are not designed to be eaten by humans and have things in them that can damage the gut and retard digestion, such as gluten and protease inhibitors, which can lead to problems such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and crohn’s disease.
Base your diet around vegetables and a good source of protein, eat grains sparingly and when you do eat them, take healthier options such as wholegrain brown rice, quinoa or gluten free oats.
