#5 – Consuming Pot Leads To Brain Cell Damage
Myth: Cannabis consumption leads to dead brain cells.
Truth: This alarming myth was created by a few experiments done on animals in which structural changes to brain cells have been observed after administrating the psychoactive substances in large doses. The primary study was done on monkeys by Dr. Robert G. Heath, which stated that brain damage has been observed in the 3 monkeys on which he had done the study. Still, the experiment has been replicated by other reputable researchers, like Charles Rebert and Gordon Pryor of SRI International, and Dr. William Slikker of the National Center for Toxicological Research.
