#6 – Alzheimer’s Disease
The most common form of dementia, Alzheimer’s Disease (AD), is degeneration of the brain that leads to mental deterioration. The condition typically begins in middle or old age and is progressive in nature, that is, it keeps getting worse with age. Alzheimer’s accounted for 84,691 deaths in the US in 2011.
The best way to reduce your chances of getting this disease or delaying its onset is to stay active, eat a healthy diet, indulge in activities that provide mental stimulation, reduce stress, exercise and get good quality sleep.
