#10 – Tiger’s Nest Monastery, Bhutan
Otherwise known as Paro Taktsang, this structure is a very popular sacred Buddhist site, located in the upper Paro valley, Bhutan. It was first built in 1692, but has undergone 2 renovations, one in 1958, and the other in 2005. It is built around a cave where it is said that a guru that introduced Buddhism to the people of Bhutan had meditated for over 3 years, and is dedicated to that guru, known as Padmasambhava. Ever since it was built, it has become a very popular attraction, and one of the symbols of Bhutan.
