#2 Rihanna’s Life in Barbados
Robyn Rihanna Fenty was born and raised in Barbados. Her father is Barbadian-Irish Ronald Fenty and her mother is the Afro-Guyanese Monica Braithwaite. In an interview, she revealed that she would spend most of her days on the beach when she was younger and helped sell clothes to earn money. Close friends revealed that Rihanna was a shy young girl, who turned to singing when she wanted to express herself.
At age 15, she formed a girl band with two of her female friends and auditioned for Carl Sturken and Evan Rogers and they saw the x factor in her from the moment she entered the room. The two other girls were not even noticed!
When the American producers asked her to come to the USA to record a demo and do some auditions for possible record deals, Rihanna went right away. She was that determined to make it big… even if it meant she had to leave her beloved country. Worth the risk, right? Before you know it, she is the newest artist of Jay-Z and ready to make a big impact on the world of music!
Rihanna helps the tourism of Barbados by being one of its ambassadors.
