#10 Pyrenean Ibex
The Pyrenean Ibex was the first species of extinct animals to be brought back to life via cloning. Unfortunately, it went extinct again soon after the process ended. The babies suffered from lung failure, and they didn’t survive. The Pyrenean Ibex is originally from the Pyrenees, a mountain chain in Spain, Andorra, and France. In 1981, the species was abundant, however, it started declining because of a slow yet permanent persecution. In the mid-19th century, the species vanished completely. By the end of the 80s, there were only 6-14 Pyrenean Ibexes remaining, and in 2000, Celia – the last naturally born Pyrenean Ibex – died at the age of 13.
