#1 – Honda Fireblade CBR1000RR
The Honda CBR1000RR is most often simply called the Fireblade or ‘blade’ and is placed at the top of this list not because it has the most power or the most cutting edge electronics, but because it is simply the best all-round package. It combines virtually matchless handling, thanks to mass-centralisation, Öhlins suspension, steering damper and ABS; smoothe, yet torquey 180 bhp power delivery (enhanced by its blueprinted motor); top-notch components; and legendary Honda reliability. If one wanted to nitpick, then the bike does lack the raw power of the previous two bikes, as well as some of the electronic aids such as traction control and rider modes, but on the positive side – it means there is less to go wrong.
The Fireblade is a bike that works brilliantly on the road as well as the track and there are Honda certified dealerships all over the world, meaning good support and relatively inexpensive servicing and repair. And that’s why we have it as the best sports bike in the world.
