#1 – Overexertion
Overexertion accounts for more workplace accidents and injuries than anything else and is usually related to physically demanding jobs that involve lifting, carrying, pulling and pushing. Think primary industries such as farming, fishing and mining; secondary industries such as manufacturing; and tertiary industries such as transport and warehousing. The most common type of injury from such accidents are back strains and slipped discs and are consistently the most expensive for employers in terms of lost man hours. This is why so many companies now take this area so seriously and why it takes up the largest part of health & safety training courses.
