#2 – Nelson Mandela Promoted Reconciliation Between Black & White People
Nelson Mandela worked hard to bring about the change from minority rule and racial segregation to black majority rule. He made use of the nation’s passion for sports and he used that passion as pivot point to endorse reconciliation between black and white people. Mandela encouraged the South African people to support and hail the once-hated national rugby team. South Africa hosted the Rugby World Cup in 1995, and that event brought further prestige and recognition to the country. Nelson Mandela signed a new constitutional law in 1996 that guaranteed equal right for the minority, as well as the freedom of speech.
