#2 – Be Flexible
When leaving school or university you may have had a very clear idea about what type of company you wanted to work for and what type of role you saw yourself working in. It’s quite likely that (if it hasn’t already) experience will tell you that you’ll need to be more flexible in what type of work you’re willing to do, at least initially.
While career advisers and job centres can offer useful advice about what the job market has on offer and how to make yourslf more employable, reality is rarely exactly like how we expect or want it to be. Don’t beat yourself up about not finding the perfect job right away – broaden your horizons and you might find that your path to an ideal job is not what you expected.
Once you’re in a job and have had a chance to display your qualities to an employer, you’ll be surprised at how opportunities can open up before you. If these opportunities don’t appear quick enough for you, then at least you’ve gained some good experience and can always keep your eyes on the lookout for the right job.
