Article #5 mentioned the health risks of regularly sitting down for extended periods of time and one of these risks was back and neck problems. Developing good posture has the following health benefits:
- Improve breathing – correct posture ensures your body is set in the most efficient position to breathe properly which is why practices such as yoga and pilates pay so much attention getting your postures correct
- Improved mental efficiency and concentration – good posture leads to good breathing and good breathing oxygenates the brain
- Improved digestion – good posture means your internal organs are positioned correctly to do their job
So, sit up straight and take up yoga or pilates even if it’s just for half an hour each day!
