#8 – Calcium

Two words: strong bones. The National Osteoporosis Foundation says, “Calcium plays an important role in building stronger, denser bones early in life and keeping bones strong and healthy later in life.” and 99% of calcium found in the body is contained in the bones and teeth. It is worth noting that vitamin D, which was the first supplement mentioned in this article, is necessary for the body to absorb calcium.
Other than dairy products such as milk and cheese, good natural sources of calcium include almonds, hazlenuts, sesame seeds, soy beans, figs and broccoli and the recommended daily intake for average healthy adults is around 1,000 mg/day.
